Norfolk – The Port of Virginia (POV) announced today that Jim Bibbs has joined the port team as its chief human resources officer.
Prior to joining POV, Bibbs was the director of human resources for clinical operations in North America for Quintiles, a Durham, NC-based company that is the world's largest provider of biopharmaceutical development and commercial outsourcing services. There, he was responsible for strategic guidance and change management as well as ensuring organizational objective alignment among other duties.
"I met Jim in the early 90s when our career paths crossed at Maersk and then we parted ways sometime later as our professions took us in different directions," said John F. Reinhart, the VPA's chief executive officer and executive director. "His experience will help us through the important phase of melding the Virginia Port Authority (VPA) and Virginia International Terminals (LLC) into The Port of Virginia. With him onboard, we've strengthened our senior leadership team and we'll continue our push forward."
Bibbs also worked for Citigroup where he was the vice president of human resources providing coaching and feedback around talent development, organizational effectiveness and performance management. In addition, he has experience as a human resources consultant and employee relations specialist at Maersk Sea-Land.
He is working on a master's degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University and a bachelor's degree in journalism/communication from Lock Haven University.
